Behind the Design: The Horoscope Collection
There was one moment during my first month here at Sachelle Collective that made me realise, “I’m gonna really enjoy working here with this team.” It was when Michelle had asked me what my horoscope sign was. Weird, I know. But I’m sure girls everywhere can relate: that moment in a new environment, whether at a party or an event, someone comes up to you and asks about your horoscope, is one of the few moments that make you feel welcomed and connected somehow. Something about conversations like that just creates a very different kind of bond.
So when Michelle told us that we were finally launching the Horoscope Collection after a whole year of planning, everyone was thrilled to say the least. Read more below to discover more on the behind the scenes of one of our biggest launches of the year!

The Collection
The collection consists of 12 unique 14k gold-filled pendants. The pendants are timeless embodiments to the different traits and symbols of the horoscope signs, making these pieces the perfect reminder for one's individuality. This collection was created for all our horoscope girlies who find guidance in their co-star updates (which we also do daily as a team on a daily basis.)

Design & Photoshoot
We had such a blast planning the photoshoot for this collection. Drawing inspiration from the designs of the pendants, and how they reminded us of ancient Greek sculptural reliefs, it was decided that we would base the photoshoot off the Hellenistic era of ancient Greece, when horoscopic astrology was developed and thrived.
The Hellenistic Era is iconised by the expansion of Greek influence and dissemination of its ideas, one of the biggest aspects of ancient Greek culture is its art– marble statues, stone architectures and such. The idea was, when you look at the photos, it would be as if you were there in person– a bright summer day in ancient Greece, surrounded by its rich tapestry of art, architecture and culture.

Behind the Design Process
This collection was long in the making, after the success and popularity of our Birth Flower Collection, we knew there should be another collection that people could feel a deep personal connection with. Which was why the initial phase of the design process took longer than usual.
We experimented and perfected the sketches of the designs with personalised interpretations and whether the pendants should contain things such as the name as text, or by using astrological sign or imagery of each horoscope sign. Being a Virgo and a perfectionist herself, Michelle created a variety of different borders for each pendant, just so they’re all unique in their own way.
There were quite a number of challenges that came up during the design and manufacturing process. Due to the design-centric nature of the pendants, we went back and forth with our workshop to create multiple iterations and samples, having to make sure that the lines and details all show up flawlessly on the pendant. We also went through several sampling in texture styles, which was left to our community to ultimately decide through an instagram poll.

Stack It Your Way
The horoscope pendants were a long, extensive project, but in the end, the team is delighted with the final results and is so excited for everyone to meet this new collection. They hold a special place in our hearts as a team of astrology girlies and we love stacking these with other necklaces over a cozy sweater. Our founder and designer, Michelle, particularly enjoys pairing her horosope pendants with her Radiant Aura crystal necklaces for that contract in textures and materials, creating a multi-dimensional stacked look that’s perfect for the fall.
